Artist Advisory

Artists are often asked to do more than make the work. IMMI Contemporary offers support with the writing, planning and strategy that sits around creative practice, creating more space for artists to focus on the work itself.

Advisory support can include professional materials, funding, applications and opportunity development, project planning, website and digital support, communications, press materials and strategic outreach. Services are available for individual artists, small galleries, artist-led initiatives and creative projects.

Support can be arranged as a one-off consultation, a defined project, or ongoing advisory and arts management support.

  • 60 minutes - $140
    90 minutes - $190

    A focused session for artists, small galleries or creative projects needing clarity around next steps.

    A consultation can help if you are unsure where to start, have several ideas in motion, or need an outside perspective on how to move forward. Sessions may cover project direction, funding opportunities, exhibition pathways, communications, digital presence or professional materials.

    Each consultation is followed by a short written summary of key recommendations and next steps.

  • Support to refine the materials that represent your work clearly and confidently.

    This may include artist bios, statements, CVs, portfolios, website copy, application text or exhibition materials. The focus is on clarity, structure and positioning, so your materials feel aligned with your practice, goals and the opportunities you are pursuing.

    Single Document Edit - $100-150
    Focused feedback and refinement of one document or text-based material.

    Professional Pack - $350-500
    A designed portfolio package tailored to your current needs. Suitable for gallery submissions, funding applications, opportunity pitching or as a downloadable resource.

    Rates vary depending on scope, with all fees confirmed before engagement.

  • Hourly Rate - $120

    Website Builds - quoted per project

    Practical creative and digital support for artist visibility, exhibitions, launches and project delivery.

    This may include website updates or new builds, email marketing, social and print assets, simple layouts, invitations, campaign support or other digital materials.

    Full website builds, larger design projects and more complex digital work are quoted separately.

  • Support for artists, organisations and creative projects navigating grants, residencies, exhibition callouts, prizes, awards and other professional opportunities.

    This can include identifying suitable opportunities, shaping the project concept, developing support material, reviewing or drafting responses, preparing budgets and aligning the application with relevant criteria.

    Funding & Opportunity Strategy Session - $160-210
    A focused session covering project scoping, opportunity alignment, budget direction and application positioning. After the session, you will receive a short written summary of key recommendations and next steps.

    Application Review & Edit - $300-450
    For completed or partially completed drafts that need refinement. Includes structural feedback, editing and alignment with funding or opportunity criteria.

    Full Application Support - quoted per project
    End-to-end support across the application process, from concept development and supporting documentation to co-writing, structure and budget preparation.

    Rates vary depending on scope, with all fees confirmed before engagement. For grants of $25,000 and above, additional success fee terms may apply.

  • A tailored 3-month retainer for artists seeking consistent support with the professional, strategic and practical management of their practice.

    While IMMI’s advisory services often focus on helping artists develop the tools, materials and strategy to move forward independently, this retainer offers a more active level of support. Working closely with the artist, IMMI can take the lead on agreed priorities such as opportunity planning, applications, communications, outreach, follow-up and project development.

    Before commencing, we begin with a paid consultation to understand where your practice is at, what support you need and which priorities are most important. From there, we agree on a focused support plan that guides how the monthly retainer time is used.

    Initial Consultation (60 minutes) - $140

    5-hour monthly retainer - $550 per month
    For artists seeking light but consistent support across one or two focused priorities.

    10-hour monthly retainer - $1000 per month
    For artists with more active practice needs, deadlines, applications, outreach or projects in motion.

    Major grant applications, full website builds, full portfolio design packages, major project management and commercial outcomes are handled separately. Additional fees, success fees or commissions may apply.
