About
Sophie Taylor is a Gamilaraay artist living and working on Bundjalung Country. She holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art from Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art. Alongside her visual arts practice, Sophie works as a workshop facilitator, creative director, art event producer and theatrical performer.
Guardians of the Sun Shower presents two Guardians formed from earth gathered on Bundjalung Country, embodying a deep connection to place and material. The figures evoke the feeling of rain falling through sunshine, a quiet tension between warmth and renewal, presence and transformation. These Guardians act as a remembering of spirit within all things: the soil beneath us, the trees above, and the ancestors who continue to guide and protect.
