About
Leona DeBolt is an emerging artist based on Bundjalung Country. Her vibrant paintings, identified by a bold and bright palette, explore immediacy. She works primarily on canvas, observing surfaces that are pushed and reworked until they hold a raw, charged energy. Her paintings feel tactile, fresh, and alive, developed through layers of acrylic, oil, enamel, raw pigment, pastel, and charcoal. Her work is both refined and loose, each painting carrying its own spirit, its own presence.
The strawflowers arrived wrapped in a golden string, they seemed to sing like a clear blue day and held the distinct scent of freedom. She was instantly uplifted and popped them in her favourite yellow vase that lived by the window to the garden.
