About
Chacha is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores magical realism. Working across paint, photography, and writing, she translates emotion from heart to hand, layering colour, texture, image, and words into compositions where reality and abstraction meet. Narrative sits at the centre of her practice, with words becoming colour and stories becoming form. Her work feels familiar yet otherworldly, inviting viewers to explore the space between reality and imagination.

Drawing from the intimate altars and layered walls of her childhood in Mexico, Twice brings together saturated colour, religious imagery and fragments of personal memory. “I’m sorry I lied twice” was written in an old journal entry, rediscovered beside a small laminated image of La Virgen. Together, these forgotten fragments became a meditation on confession, devotion, guilt, and a once-difficult memory now looked back upon with tenderness.

About
Leona DeBolt is an emerging artist based on Bundjalung Country. Her vibrant paintings, identified by a bold and bright palette, explore immediacy. She works primarily on canvas, observing surfaces that are pushed and reworked until they hold a raw, charged energy. Her paintings feel tactile, fresh, and alive, developed through layers of acrylic, oil, enamel, raw pigment, pastel, and charcoal. Her work is both refined and loose, each painting carrying its own spirit, its own presence.

The strawflowers arrived wrapped in a golden string, they seemed to sing like a clear blue day and held the distinct scent of freedom. She was instantly uplifted and popped them in her favourite yellow vase that lived by the window to the garden.

About
Josephine Kokfelt Ehlers is an artist based in the Byron Bay hinterland working across abstract painting, photography and collage. Her practice explores an ongoing fascination with the urban landscape, architecture, colour, line, shape and structure. Working between observation and abstraction, Josephine is drawn to the overlooked details of everyday environments - houses, roads, windows, fences, reflections and fragments of architecture. Her work moves between the familiar and the imagined, using intuitive processes and playful experimentation to transform these observations into paintings and images that explore ideas of place, home and the spaces we inhabit.

Exploring shape, structure and a limited palette; layers are covered and uncovered, revealing fragments of something familiar. Houses appear and disappear within the painting - structures to inhabit, remember and perhaps leave behind. Eggplant plays with the shifting space between a house and the idea of home.

The After imagines los muertos dancing beyond the end, where death becomes a place of celebration rather than disappearance. After losing my two grandfathers, Chacha realised she knew many versions of “Happy Birthday” - she could even sing it in three different languages -but she knew no song for a happy passage, for a good life transitioning into death. She found herself wanting to sing and dance for my grandfathers’ lives, for both life and death, and for the journey that separates the two.

Mixed media on board
Pink perspex frame
81 × 108cm

Shipping: Artwork price includes shipping within Australia.

About
Katie Pink is a New Zealand-born emerging artist living and working on Bundjalung Country in the Northern Rivers, NSW. Working predominantly in abstract painting, Pink uses layers of colour, texture, sanding and erasure to create surfaces that move between softness, disruption and play. Her intuitive practice explores resilience and transformation, often using pink and unexpected colour as a way of softening and reshaping heavier experiences.

Built through layers of spray paint and acrylic on board, A Quiet Kind of Survival has been repeatedly worked, covered and stripped back until arriving at a quieter, more resolved surface. Traces of its earlier layers remain beneath the painting, giving the seemingly simple composition a sense of history and depth. Soft washes of colour are interrupted by vivid pink flocked circles and textured marks, creating a tension between softness, playfulness and what lies underneath.

About
Mia Forrest’s practice draws on ecological systems and natural phenomena, translating biodata, sound and vibration into work across pigment, textiles, digital media, metalwork and paper.

Flanksia is an assembly of two Australian Native plant species: the Hinchinbrook Banksia (banksia plagiocarpa) and the native flannel wildflower (actinotus helianthi). The Hinchinbrook Banksia flower is considered rare and is endemic to Hinchinbrook Island located on the Cassowary Coast Region. The Flannel Flower is a delicate wooly textured wild flower that is commonly found in coastal NSW environments.

Mia’s Bloom artworks hybridize time, technology, and nature; botanicals take on new identities as surreal stretching forms bloom upward, revealing a DNA-like helix, inviting the viewer to contemplate how species morph, change, survive, and thrive over time, particularly in the digital-age. Through the use of expanded time and digital generative applications, Flanksia re-imagines botanicals within an alternate time-space continuum, challenging antiquated still-life conventions.
